Rumex acetosella – Sheep sorrel – Schapenzuring
Sheep sorrel herb grows in the wild in large parts of the world, mostly in meadows and rocky areas; it is often regarded as a weed!
Sheep sorrel has been used for centuries by healers and is a rich source of oxalic acid, sodium, potassium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, beta carotene and vitamin C.
The combination of these vitamins and minerals promote the general health of the whole body.
Properties: enhances the flow of urine, supports metabolism, regulates body temperature, cools the liver and strengthens the immune system.
Application: For herbal tea add 1 teaspoon of powdered herb to 1 cup of water, diffuse for 5 minutes. It is recommended to have 2 cups of Sheep sorrel tea per day.
Sheep sorrel can also be used in the preparation of meat dishes. The leaves are rich in vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K and contains 8-12% carotenoids.
